Chair-Chi, Aerobics and Yoga
Galewood offers health and wellness programing for both the mind and body.
Victory Centre of Galewood offers a popular Chair Chi program, a gentle exercise to help people who cannot stand or have balance issues receive the benefits of traditional Tai Chi. The many benefits include balance, flexibility, range of motion, strength, energy, pain relief, stress reduction and peace of mind. Some residents are getting these very same benefits by practicing traditional and modified yoga, which is led by a Galewood resident who has been trained in the ancient art. Others prefer to amp up their cardio at aerobics class.
Brain Exercise
Countless numbers of scientific studies in recent years provide evidence for the benefits of memory training to help older adults improve memory functioning, as well as the potential for any individual to minimize the risk of developing memory loss by engaging in preventive exercise. Victory Centre of Galewood partners with Memory Training Centers of America to provide both preventive and treatment programs for its residents with the goal of helping all individuals maintain optimal memory function throughout their lifetimes.

Plus physicians, pharmacists, home health nurses, physical and rehabilitation therapists, social workers, psychiatric nurses and hospice specialists all serve as an extension of the Pathway team. All providers are carefully selected for quality, share Pathway’s holistic VIVA! philosophy and work together to provide coordinated, seamless care. VIVA! Plus helps residents live well and recover more quickly when not well.

For example, Galewood residents and families can take comfort in knowing that Pathway’s VIVA! Plus preferred medication management partner offers industry-leading accuracy rates and inspects all medication orders for contra-indications, interactions, duplications, toxicity, safety and efficacy.
Distributing and taking medications is made easy and convenient. Galewood resident’s medications arrive in specialty OnePAC pouches that are segmented for each resident by day and time of day and clearly labeled. This means that nursing staff can spend less time worrying about medications and more time caring for residents. Plus residents can take their medications with confidence and a sense of independence.

Not only is accessing care providers made simple, but the VIVA! Plus team results are outstanding. Working with our trusted healthcare partners, Pathway communities, including Victory Centre of Galewood, have reduced hospital 30-day readmissions by one third. Overall hospital admissions are on the decline as are the number of falls and injuries from falls.
