Signature Programs
Victory Centre of Bartlett’s unique, award-winning lifestyle promotes personal peace and happiness, making it easy to feel right at home here. There are ample opportunities, both inside and outside of the community, to inspire a fully engaged and healthy lifestyle.
A Good Neighbor
Teenagers, antique dealers and classic car enthusiasts are in Bartlett’s circle of friends
Victory Centre of Bartlett residents keep connected to the larger Bartlett community through several highly anticipated annual events and ongoing treasured relationships with various community groups.
For starters, the residents enjoy a friendship with the Bartlett High School National Honor Society students, who partner with Victory Centre of Bartlett to complete service projects. While the annual Prom Fashion Show is one of the most popular events, the students also help videotape residents’ life stories along with participating in other occasional intergenerational activities.
Bartlett antique dealers help make Victory Centre of Bartlett’s annual “Treasures from Your Attic” spring event a big success. Much like the popular “Antiques Roadshow,” residents and their families bring their heirlooms to learn the monetary value of their prized possessions. The standing-room-only crowd spends the day socializing and learning about each other’s treasured antiques.
Each June, a Classic Car Show attracts auto enthusiasts and their families to view rows of classic cars proudly parked in Victory Centre’s lot. Staff serve grilled hot dogs and ice cream while guests preview the cars and vote for their favorites. The winning cars receive trophies, and Victory Centre of Bartlett’s charity, Child’s Voice, a non-profit that helps educate children with hearing loss, receives a cash donation from the event’s raffle sales.
The fun continues in the summer with a traditional block party held in conjunction with Bartlett’s “National Night Out.” There’s food, music and visits from local police and fire departments and McGruff the Crime Dog mascot. Families, residents and the community enjoy spending time together while supporting the neighborhood.
Residents Give Back
Bartlett’s Sharing and Caring Program benefits Mooseheart kids and many others
While on a holiday light bus tour of Mooseheart’s campus, a light went on, quite literally, for Victory Centre of Bartlett residents to help out this neighboring organization. Mooseheart Child City and School is a residence and school for children and teenagers who are in need, providing them with a home-like environment and education. Bartlett residents collect books and toys for the kids and have donated hundreds of items over the last couple of years.
But that’s not all! Residents also collect eye glasses for the Lions Club and donations for Child’s Voice, Sunrise Day Camp and a local dog shelter. They pack food for Feed My Starving Children, read to pre-school children, and help make sleeping mats for the homeless from used plastic bags for the New Life for Old Bags program.
Something for Everyone
Whatever your passion, there’s likely an activity or like-minded person to share it with you.
For a creative outlet, Victory Centre of Bartlett residents take part in Art Path classes (painting and air dry clay among the favorites), drumming circles (led by Bartlett’s bus driver and musician Mike) and Victory Gardens, vegetable gardens planted and tended by residents that produce, among other produce, herbs and vegetables for the Victory Centre of Bartlett happy hour pizzas! Other regular, well-attended programs, many led by residents, include opera classes, baking, tai chi and yoga. There are also day trips to local destinations including the Chinese gardens, river boat rides, horseback riding, casinos, zoos, museums, ice hockey and baseball games as well as day and overnight Camp VIVA! trips and a popular “Forensic Tour” for all of the CSI fans.
