Resident's son
“don’t think we could have found a better place for our mother.
When I first entered the front door, I was greeted with many smiles and hellos from joyful residents sitting in the common area.
The desk staff was so kind and every staff member who walked by smiled and said hello. Even the resident dog came to greet us :)
While we toured, I spoke with a few residents. My heart smiled as they told me how much they like living there and how wonderful the staff was.
One resident showed me the entertainment area where they play games, watch movies and entertainers come to perform. She showed me the calendar with scheduled activities and a sign up book to go on trips.
Since our mother has been a resident, she has gone fishing, on bingo trips, to a candy factory…the list is endless. But the greatest trips were when she was in the finals of the Illinois Assisted Living Wii Bowling tournament :)
They have scheduled daily trips to places such as Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart, the grocery store, bank, again……a long list.
Their events coordinator is a huge blessing! She ensures that there is always an activity whether it’s a field trip, visiting entertainment or just putting on music and dancing. My heart sunk when I walked in one day and saw her dancing with several residents. The happiness in that room couldn’t be measured.
She schedules entertainment such as Michael Jackson, Elvis, piano players, magicians…….!!!
Our mother’s room is sufficient. It has everything she needs. Plenty of cabin space, sink, microwave and a full sized refrigerator.
Everywhere we walk within the building, on every floor, there is a kind staff member walking with a hello and a smile.
The nursing staff is amazing! I’m impressed that they remember every resident, their needs, their medication schedules, their conditions……etc.
Not only the nursing staff is attentive to the residents. The management, the maintenance staff, the dining staff, all stop whatever they’re doing if they see someone who needs a hand.
When my sister (our family coordinator – don’t tell her I said that) went to set up our mother’s move-in, I was in town and able to go with her.
As we sat in the office, we were given very valuable information on how to make the process go more smoothly.
Every form needed was given to us and explained, in detail, the for the most expeditious government processing. And she ensured we understood the timeline of the process.
As we sat in this meeting, the phone kept ringing. Intrusive? No! It was the manager, assistant manager and who knows who else – calling to be sure we had everything we needed. That all was going smoothly.
I could write a book about how pleased our family is with Victory Centre (I think maybe I just did).”
