Navigating the seniors housing maze can be difficult at first. These simple definitions will help you with the terminology you will run into along the way. GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Acid from stomach backs up into esophagus (also known as “acid reflux”).
GastroIntestinal (GI)
Refers to stomach and intestines.
Geriatrician
A physician who is formally trained and specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of older adults who are ill.
Gerontology
The study of the normal aging process.
